Stefan Degener has been elected to the Board of Directors of SolarPower Europe in 2016. Since 2018 he holds the role of Vice President.

He oversees First Solar’s presence in Europe and Africa, and is responsible for First Solar’s growth strategy and business development activities in the region.

A nine-year veteran of the solar industry, Stefan joined First Solar as Head of Project Finance EMEA in 2011. In this role Stefan was responsible for the acquisition, structuring, financing and sale of utility scale PV power plants in Europe, Middle East and Africa. In 2012, he was appointed Managing Director Germany and played a key role in managing the company’s European sales and business development activities. 2016 Stefan was assigned to lead the business development and sales activities of First Solar in Europe and Africa. Stefan also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Solar Power Europe since 2016. Prior to joining First Solar, Stefan worked for renowned German banks and brings more than 20 years of experience in the Corporate & International Project Finance and Financial Markets.

Stefan Degener holds an MBA in Business Administration with main emphasis on banking and finance.
